Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL is home of the Florida State Seminoles. FSU was officially established in 1851 and is located on the oldest continuous site of higher education in the state of Florida. The school's athletic teams are called the Seminoles. This Native American name is used with official sanction of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, Inc. and the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma. They participate in the NCAA's Division I (Bowl Subdivision for football) and in the Atlantic Coast Conference
